A technique to incorporate a little colourwork in to your lace knitting.
To work the swatch you will need 2 contrasting lace weight yarns and 3.75mm straight needles.
The swatch is worked using both yarns at the same time apart from where where we are empasizing the leaf shape and the leaf stem where just one yarn is used.
For this example Yarn A is orange and Yarn B is yellow.
They are shown on the chart as coloured squares. Squares not shown in any colour are stitches worked in both yarns.
In the written instructions below they are known as YA and YB.
Swatch Pattern
Cast on 25 stitches using both yarns together. Work rows 1 - 24 below then cast off.
Row 1 Set up Row: *k4, (k2 in YA) , (k1 in YB), (k2 in YA), k3; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl across the row using the same colours as the previous row.
Row 3: *k4, (k2tog in YA), yo, (k1in YB) , yo, (ssk in YA), k3; repeat from * to last st, k1.
Row 5: *k3, (k2tog in YA), k1, yo, (k1 in YB) , yo, k1, (ssk in YA), k2; rep from to last st, k1.
Row 7: *k2, (k2tog in YA), k2, yo, (k1 in YB), yo, k2, (ssk in YA), k1; rep from to last st, k1.
Row 9: *k1, (k2tog in YA), k3, yo, (k1 in YB), yo, k3, (ssk in YA); rep from to last st, k1.
Row 11: *(k2tog in YA), k4, yo, (k1 in YB), yo, k4, (cdd in YA), k4, yo, (k1 in YB), yo, k4, (ssk in YA).
Row 13: *(k1 in YA), (k2 in YB), k7, (k2 in YB); rep from * to last st, (k1 in YA).
Row 15: *(k1 in YA), yo, (ssk in YB), k7, (k2tog in YB), yo; rep from * to last st, (k1 in YA).
Row 17: *(k1 in YA), yo, k1, (ssk in YB), k5, (k2tog in YB), k1, yo; rep from *to last st, (k1 in YA),
Row 19: *(k1 in YA), yo, k2, (ssk in YB), k3, (k2tog in YB), k2, yo; rep from * to last st, (k1 in YA).
